Victorian Collections

Some of our extensive local history collection can be viewed  at the Victorian Collections website below.

Our collection of approximately 100 maps dates from 1853 and includes MMBW, Department of Public Lands and Sands and McDougall maps, covering Glen Eira and surrounding areas.

Our collection consists of local newspapers dating from 1920 Caulfield News to recent editions of the Caulfield Glen Eira Leader. A full list of newspapers is available below.

We hold a collection of local history books covering most Victorian towns, some biographies and other histories. These books were collected by Jack Paice who worked for the Post Master General’s Department until the 1980s.  We also hold histories of local schools, sporting groups, places of worship and more.

Our collection includes Mayoral Robes, WWI Avenue of Honour plaques, sporting trophies and old bottles dug up in Caulfield Park.
