We are open from 9am-1pm on Tuesdays. Appointments are preferred but drop ins are always welcome.

Book Launch

Glen Eira Historical Society – Celebrating 50 years 1972 – 2022

We invite you to join us and help launch our new book.

In 2022 the Glen Eira Historical Society marked its 50th anniversary, an admirable achievement which our book celebrates. It’s the story of a grassroots organisation, its founders and members, activities, achievements and its ebbs and flows. The book was published with assistance from a City of Glen Eira Community Grant.

The book will be officially launched by Mayor Cr Simone Zmood following short talks by GEHS and Dr Andrew Lemon, historian and past President of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria.

Free copies of the book will be available to GEHS members on the night.

Supper is provided and drinks can be purchased from the bar.

About Us

Founded in 1972 the Caulfield Historical Society’s early work led to significant buildings such as Myoora, Halstead and Lirrewa gaining heritage protection at a time when many historic buildings were under threat of demolition.

In 1994, the City of Caulfield merged with the northern part of the City of Moorabbin and became the new City of Glen Eira. Some years later in 2000 the Caulfield Historical Society changed its name to the Glen Eira Historical Society, to reflect the whole municipality of Glen Eira. View Map
